What if we tried to use your Jewel so you could have some respite from seein' it all the time?

What if we could use the Jewels to avoid seein' details of someone's life?

They substitute for aether already. No sense not tryin'.

Try an' use the Jewel the way you'd use Craft, but with your Echo for intentions. Trainin', an' all. I don't except results soon, but... better somethin' tried over nothin'.

[His training for both was minimal and his talent for magic otherwise limited, but he nonetheless tried. A small flow of power seeped through their psychic link as Takame pulled what strength he was able from his Jewel focusing on letting it merge with what he knew of his Echo, controlling his Aether sight. The fact that he was all but surrounded by wearers of the Jewels was a benchmark for him to measure his progress.

He is silent the entire time though he doesn't feel he's made any progress, the only indication of that being a curious hum from his end. He wouldn't stop until he was told or until he felt something change.]

[True to his mostly Seeker nature, Rhus gets impatient after a minute of silence.]

I take it from the silence, nothin' happenin'?

[Meaning he's determined to continue for as long as the energy in his Jewel will allow him. Even if he'd have to strain himself to do it.]

Yes... [So he says, willing to continue on to the edge of his energy. There was about another minute and a half of silence before he finally felt something.]

[A pain at the bridge of his nose that shot rapidly between both eyes. Power from Jewels people around him wore faded in and out aggressively as if a spotlight was being switched on and off directly in his eyes. With a sharp gasp he recoiled, cutting the flow of power from his Jewel and tugging from their psychic thread slightly. Though Rhus couldn't see it, he pressed a hand hard against one eye, waiting for the other to adjust to his normal sight as for a moment he couldn't see a thing.]

Shite...

What in the hells happened-- Takame, for kami's sake. [Rhus lets out a rumble that can be heard through the psychic link.] Did you overreach?

[It took a moment for his capacity to respond to their link to return with his sight.]

Perhaps I did overdo it... but I am fine. The Jewels can undoubtedly have some effect on the Echo it would seem.

[The longer than usual pauses between his words showed his mind wasn't entirely There yet, but gathering his bearings another question on impulse came out.]

Have you yet glimpsed another's past since arriving?

A few times. Thankfully not in any moment important or dangerous.

But that weren't why I thought o' the idea.

If we could look into memories at will, an' find what we need, some moral dilemmas would be easily avoided. [The one the Queen had. If they could find out the motivations of someone without them opening their mouth, then a conclusion could be made so much more quickly.]
